exxxxxxxxciting

Guess where I am?

Today I woke up in Bergen followed by 2 hours in one plane, landing in Amsterdam - followed by 5 hours in a different plane. Guess where I am?!

Today has been the most ridiculous day _EVER_ Here it goes:
So I thought our delay from Bergen was going to make me late for my flight out from Amsterdam - so I ran from one gate to the other (of course on completely opposite sides f the airport...)
I made it to the gate, and they had started boarding. So we start boarding, and since I am travelling to the US 'boarding' means 'being interviewed'. So this RIDICULOUSLY tall woman walks up to me, and tells me to go stand over by a table. Then she asks me where I am travveling from, who packed my luggage, if anyone but me had handeled the luggage, if all the elctric equipment in my suitcase was mine and so on and so forth. Not only did she ask... RIDICULOUS questions, but she also had the poorest english I have ever heard. She had to repeat everything at least three times before I understood what she meant. Then I got to the gate, and we were supposed to depart at 1015, but started boarding at 1017 instead. And this is where it all begun.
It's a long and RIDICULOUS story. And I'll type it up later.
But I am still in Amsterdam. And it's 2am.. or so. yay!

Chemistry

I remember one night last year didn't have time, nor energy, to finish my chem homework. So I left my folder and sheets next to me in my bed, and went to sleep. Then I set the alarm to 2am or so, and was awake for 30 quick minutes or so, and finished my homework before I went back to sleep.
Doesn't that sound crazy??? It does to me. And that is why I will not do the same tonight. To be honest, I'd rather pull an all-nighter. Waking up in the middle of the night to finish homework just sounds painful.

Well, it should be said that I didn't really do that one chem sheet. I had borrowed Patrick's, and I copied most of it. It was balancing equations. And it sucked.
And goodnight!

thhhursday

Thursday is the 4th day of the week, or in countires that uses the sunday-first convention it is the 5th day of the week. It falls between wednesday and friday. The name is derived from middle English thuresday, meaning "Thunor's day" (Which means, from old norse "Thor's day", and is referring to the Proto-Germanic god of Thunder.) (therefore, in Norway, Sweden & Denmark thursday translates to torsdag = tor's dag. Where tor = Thor, and dag = day.)

Somehow. Right now. Thursday seems to be my favorite day. WTF!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?
Yes.
Thursday afternoon I'll be done with my 5hours long chemistry final. And next thursday I'll be on my way to La Crosse! God works in mysterious ways...................................

Ugh.
Wish me (good) luck!

(Also, another thought, which, by the way, makes me very very very happy; next time I'm blogging I'll be all done with my chem final!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

So, Allison/Alleeson. I guess you deserve to at least be mentioned in my blog?
Yes.
AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison AllisonAllisonAllisonAllison

Oh well.
I'll tell you what I like about you.
Just kidding.
Im going to tell you what I like about us; that being Allison and I (yes, I do know my grammar)
This is actually what I love about us.
So when I talk to allison; it doesn't matter if it's on skype or we are texting or in her car or bedroom or watching a football game or in a facebook message, it does not matter. Anyhow, when I talk with alleeson I skip all the big stuff. The stuff I would be aching to tell everyone else. And do you know why? Cause she probably already knows it. Either I already told her, or she just knows. So we skip all the big stuff. And then we can spend hours talking about really silly and not important things - which no one else would everc are enough to talk about.
I tell alleeson about things that are completely insignificant compared to what I would tell others, because I know this "other" would not care at all.
So that's it. We skip all the big stuff!

russekort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So during the whole Russ-celebration the Russ has CARDS (link here)
They usually have a silly photo on them, and stupid jokes, often about rasism or sex. Kids would chase a russ for hours just to get his/her card. So while you're a kid they are nothing but items you collect. Every russ orders/makes his/her own russ-card, and can order as many as they want - usually around 300 or so.

So while paying for my russ-supplymenst, I started thinking of the making of my russ-card. I do not know what jokes to put on it, and neither what picture(any suggestions? let me know). I have _ABSOLUTELY_ no idea.
Anyhow, I'll get back to the picture some other time; right now I'm focusing on the jokes. So here are (so far) my options: (they are in Norwegian, I'll try to translate them into making-sense. Although, I would LOVE to have a quote/joke in english on my card. Again; suggestions? please let me know)
I used to be short and cute, and I still am
// I would do anything to do nothing (??)
To me, even "a little late" is too soon
// I've always wanted to do homework, but this is the girl who could control herself.
I'm not who I used to be, but I never have been
  • Menstration is a bloody waste of fucking time (mmmmaaaybe a not as appropriate? Still like it though)

I also have two others in mind.
    They are:
    1. “Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.”
(this one I posted on my blog a while ago)

    2. "Where are we going?" Pooh asked.
    "Nowhere" Christopher Robin answered.
So they began going there/ and that's where they went

Both of these are probably, maybe, my favorite quotes of all time and might be just a little bit too "serious" or "cute" or "meaningful"(to me) or whatever to put on my russ-card.
    What do you think?

i'm weird 'cause i hate goodbyes

Believe me or not, but I was actually going somewhere with posting this song.
It's weird how I both like(not love) and hate(not dislike) this song(which means my negative feelings towards it are stronger than the positive ones)
And even if I hate to admit it; this is, probably, the song of my exchange. Simply because it became super popular in no time and was played everywhere all the time (especially on z93).

1. Nan, my 2nd hostmom, took me and her twin-daughters (kelsey&jessie, 22yrs) to Rochester to go shopping. I think this was in November. While they were looking for Christmas gifts and sweatshirts I was looking for a swimsuit I could take with me to Florida. Which was a really hard thing to find in November by the way... Anyhow, on our way back to la cross we stopped in la crescent to buy apples, of course, and while nan went inside the rest of us stayed in the car. And guess what song came on the radio? Oh yes. And Jessie, in particular, expressed her hatered towards this song. And we laughed and talked about spaceships and aliens for the rest of the car ride.

2. I have 8 days left in the US. I am in grand rapids, Michigan, waiting to go on stage with the "singing ambassadors" in front of thousands and thousands of people from all over the world. On stage there is a girl doing the signlanguage to fireflies. And as an introduction to her performance we got to hear the story of how she learned sign language, during her (rotary) exchange, of course. And as she gets done telling, and the music starts to play the audience is speechless and in complete awe of her achievements. And no one has ever gotten applauded that hard before.

It also reminds me of riding with Jerry to school, walking from one class to another class, getting dressed in the morning in savannahs basement, pretending to do homework with savannah, drivin to footballgames with Allison, riding with Elisabeth to soccer practice, taking pictures for photography class.....
And this is why I HAVE to like this song, even though I hate it.
Because it is a part of something so great I can't even explain it.

27. sep. 2010

Ggoogglllleee

Oh, and a happy birthday to Google. A year and 8 days younger than my very own brother.

And enough said already.
And also, im done takling about christmas. I think. I'm looking forward to it a lot though; the snow, the dark, the candles, the scarfs&hats&mittens(or gloves)&fireplaces&cups of hot chocolate&the fresh, cold air. And I am looking forward to Christmas either way. Either way.
Meeting Monica outside the church and exchange gifts, or call Sunniva and talk for hours would also give me Julestemning!

26. sep. 2010

Julestemning

Translates to CHRISTMAS MOOD. But I really strongly disagree with that. Christmas mood doesn't do justice to Julestemning. Cause it is so much more than just Christmas mood. And I can't even explain why. I guess I can try with: it's a lot more stronger, and passionately, and everybody thinks about it, and uses it, all through the month of December.
Earlier I was talking to my grandmother about this exact thing; Julestemning. And that it doesn't really come to you before you're sitiing in church Christmas eve and everyone is dressed up and so on. And as she was telling me about the 18christmasea I've lived u started tearing up; because this is not what I think of as Christmas anymore, and thinking of it does not give me the Julestemning it should.
Then, you might ask, what does give me Julestemning?
The thought of using only 15 minutes in the bathroom cause Jamie and Jessie and kelsey are all using the same bathroom as me.
The thought if being ready before everyone else and therefore having to take Gus for a walk in the snow.
The thought of driving with Jerry to church instead if nan because jerry's car heats up quicker.
The thought of driving down the bluff and look at all the orange and yellow spots in the ocean of pitch black that is the city of la crosse.
The thought of sitting next to nan suing the service while Jerry and Jamie and Kelsey and jessie are all playing in the band.
The thought of eating supper with the neighbours.
The thought of staying up late my older siblings talking about Christmas traditions.
The thought of skyping with my family in Norway on jerry's Mac.

Now that's Christmas.
Oh what wouldn't
I give to wake up
Next to you
Your dark hair
soft skin
Beautiful lips. And just
For now I'd like
To sleep until Christmas.

Or, that would be a great gift too, I guess... Nevermind.
Anyhow,

Get done with all of my mandatory driving classes
My drivers license
A car (preferably a blue or red Mini Cooper)
Everlasting amounts of tickets to La Crosse
an iHome
a puppy!
Great CD's

And so on.

it's such a funny sensation to be

So it starts raining. And it is as if the world stops. The entire world completely stops working. Or at least, that's what we act like. Cars are the only option for transport, walking all the way to the bus is not even considered.
You would imagine that since we once had close to 200 days of rain in one year we would have learned how to enjoy the rain, and were prepared. But no. No, not at all.
Is it really just the rain though?
No, it's the fall. The fall is here. And we know it.

And _OH_MY_GOD_ people rent a lloott of movies when it's raining. jeeezee luiiis.
